Welcome to the very heart of Paris, between Rue Saint-Antoine and the quays of the Seine, the Hotel de Ville and the Bastille, and right by the extraordinary Wall of Philip Augustus (remnant of the fortified compound used to protect the capital in the 12th century).
The most prestigious districts of Paris are yours to discover. Step outside the Charles V and into Le Marais with its architectural treasures, a testimony to the past and to French history. A 3 minute walk away is the Place des Vosges. The oldest square in Paris and arguably the most beautiful, it is a superb jewel in the crown of Le Marais. Measuring 140 m x 140 m, it is bordered by 36 red-brick pavilions constructed in a symmetrical manner. At the centre, there lies a lovely garden full of lime trees, decorated with fountains and an equestrian statue of Louis XIII. At the ground level of the pavilions, you can explore a number of cafés, boutiques and art galleries.
Nearby, you’ll find the iconic Île Saint-Louis in the Seine with its grand townhouses and its paved courtyards typical to Paris. Also nearby is the Île de la Cité with Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie and the Place Dauphine, an exclusive residential area where people play boules on summer evenings. There’s also the Place de la Bastille with its prestigious opera house hosting a rich and varied programme, plus Boulevard Saint-Germain and the Latin Quarter.
Just 3 minutes’ walk is the Saint-Paul metro station (line 1), which serves the Gare de Lyon, Châtelet, the Louvre, the Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe. Just 10 minutes away is the RER C station St-Michel/Notre-Dame, which serves the Champ de Mars and Eiffel Tower, the Invalides, the Musée d’Orsay, the Gare d’Austerlitz and the François Mitterrand Library. Plus you can get numerous buses that will take you to all corners of Paris.
